Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is about love--not just romantic love, but also the other loves that last between family and friends.

Jewelry as tough and beautiful as you are.

This Valentine’s Day, Iron Lace Design offers you a mix of classic favorites and new designs with a wide spectrum of price points. My goal here at Iron Lace Design is to create wearable, durable art that can make you feel magical every day.

I’m excited to show you my new pieces--some of them have come out of my workshop only within the past few weeks and are already getting a lot of interest (and purchase)!

Feel like a brilliant Renaissance queen in this new creation!

Eleanor of Toledo: I named this ornate piece after the Renaissance Duchess of Tuscany. She was considered the first modern woman, who ruled over Florence with her husband, Cosimo de Medici, who honored her as a real partner, and entrusted her with true regency over their city. I painstakingly crafted this out of silver-plated filigree and steel chainmail lace to capture that intricate Renaissance brilliance and symbol of deeply loving partnership.

The Byzantine line makes you an everyday empress!

The Nyx: This lace collar is named after the Greek goddess of the night, and is my newest entry into my bestselling Byzantine line.

I chose a darkly gleaming gunmetal steel for this adjustable collar, weaving mystery and music into the open-work design I created myself. My clientele tell me that they love how substantial their Byzantine necklaces feel, and how they softly chime with their movement.

Delicacy and strength combine in this customizable necklace, redolent in symbolism.

This is the Artemisia, named in honor of Artemisia Gentileschi, the celebrated Renaissance artist who wrested beauty from ashes in her own life, and went on to create an artistic legacy of passionate, brilliantly colored portrayals of women striving and supporting each other.

Rich in symbolism, the Artemisia is a necklace redolent with appreciation for the strong and enduring women in your life, and would be a beautiful way to honor a sister or friend who has also wrested beauty from ashes.

“Many waters cannot quench love…” -Song of Solomon

The Thetis is one of the pieces that exemplifies my Iron Lace Design ideal, which is to knit metal links into lace using the bias-alignment of Japanese chainmail.

I combined white gold-plated chainmail with filigree pieces and sea-blue crystals to evoke a shimmering salt sea. Its heavy, sparkling drape is intended to make its fortunate bearer feel like a goddess.

If there seems to be a sea between you and the one you love, this is the piece that will cross the ocean to carry your love.

“Lords of melody and song, Lords of roses burning bright, Blue will right the ancient wrong, Though the way is dark and long, Blue will shine with loving light.” ― Madeleine L'Engle, A Swiftly Tilting Planet

The Tesseract set is my love letter to Madeleine L’engle’s Wrinkle in Time series.

The characters in these beloved books travel through time and space to discover their cosmic connections to each other, and learn how to speak the languages of stars, unicorns, and dragons.

One of the best things about a relationship is the intimate language we create with others.

I made this matching set of necklace and earrings to celebrate that sparkling spiritual connection.

Celebrate what links us together by giving someone you love the gift of time.

Sacred Heart: This next piece represents a sacred part of my own heart--I created it using watch gears I inherited from my Japanese watchmaker father, linked together with white gold-plated chainmail.

Time has passed since his death, but my memories remain. This necklace is a beautiful way to show someone how much you literally treasure your time with them, and celebrates the things that link us.

These are just a few of my creations that I'm featuring on Facebook and at my Etsy store between now and Valentine's Day. Follow the links to see what else I may share in the next fortnight. Don't miss out! Get your custom orders in now, and give someone special a stone-and-steel creation to celebrate love that lasts.
