Dragon's Tear

Fiery colors in both bead and metal form an exquisite teardrop. I begin by firing stainless steel, as if it has been exposed to a dragon's breath. The heat reveals bronze, blue, and purple tones in the steel. I then use the fired steel to create a setting for the lab-created black opal. These beads are rare and expensive. But their colors shimmer as if the gem itself has been set aflame. The finished pendant is hung from a stainless steel chain.
