Hua Mulan

Blossom into victory with the Hua Mulan, a chainmail collar worked in bronze and studded with fuchsia Swarovski crystals.
 
The Hua Mulan honors the legendary Chinese warrior, a fighter renowned for her martial skill and family devotion. When her homeland goes to war, Mulan agrees to protect her ailing father and young brother by going to war in their stead. Her stories have persisted in Chinese folktales for almost two thousand years.
 
Constructing the Hua Mulan begins with bronze chainmail linked by hand into a collar almost an inch wide. Then I weave fuchsia Swarovski crystals into the handlinked chainmail, and finish the seventeen-inch strip of sparkling armor with a matching lobster clasp and a two-inch extension chain for adjustability. I secure the fuchsia crystals with sturdy pins, which gleam like petals of the magnolia for which Mulan is named.
 
This construction is similar to my Fidget line, and provides the same sensory feedback--the fuchsia crystals spin enchantingly between the fingers. This bronze necklace is sturdy, beautiful, and touchable.
