Thalassa

Thalassa

Rating is 5.0 out of five stars based on 2 reviews

Stunning and substantial, the Thalassa necklace features intricate glimmering links edged in lustrous lapis lazuli blue beads, inspired by the primordial goddess of the sea.

Ancient cultures believed lapis lazuli was a sacred stone, its bright blue the symbol of a goddess-queen. Lapis lazuli gladdened the goddess Inanna, brightened the eyes of Cleopatra, and was crushed to create glowing skies and seas in Renaissance art.

Like the other pieces in my bestselling Byzantine line, the Thalassa is a marriage of elegance and durability, an Iron Lace Design original inspired by historic Byzantine jewelry. The Thalassa is ready to weather all conditions with you-a boldly beautiful selection for a formal affair that's also rugged enough to wear swimming in a pool. Imagine how amazing it would look with a simple white tee and blue jeans. The Byzantine line is crafted to make you an everyday empress.

I loop the links of steel by hand according to my custom pattern, knitting metal to create a piece of art that flows in sixteen shining inches with an inch-long extension chain. You can wear the Thalassa as a choker or at your collarbone.

  • As such, there will be minor variations in every piece and no two will be exactly the same.

I love this necklace! It's heavy enough that it feels a bit like armor on those days when I need to be fortified, and it's so beautiful. It's a pleasure to wear (and the links can be kind of spinny, so it's also tactile for me)!!

I love this necklace. I love the weight and the way it chimes faintly when the baby fiddles with it. And its strength! It?s so strong that my 1yo can wrap his hand around it and yank and it is impervious.
