Theodora
"May I never be deprived of this purple robe, and may I never see the day when those who meet me do not call me empress." Crown your collarbones in the Theodora, a Byzantine-style necklace woven of glittering gold-plated micro chainmail and studded with royal purple faceted amethysts.
The Theodora is a stunning addition to my beloved Byzantine line, and the one most truly rooted in that ancient aesthetic. Named for the most powerful woman in Byzantium, Theodora was a girl who was first a dancer, then an Empress, and finally a saint, Theodora's courageous action and wise counsel saved the Emperor Justinian.
I've woven the gold-plated microlinks into a twenty-inch long adjustable collar of draped Japanese chainmail that moves fluidly with your every movement, and finished the piece with a with a matching gold-plated lobster clasp and extension chain for custom comfort. To this I add amethysts that coruscate with the rarest and most royal of colors, linking them to the golden collar so that they dance on the ends of securely hand-turned pins. The combination of purple and gold, chainmail and gemstone, creates a lush sensory treasure delightful to the eye and delicious to the touch.
Theodora was no stranger to striving, and her namesake, like my other Byzantine-style necklaces, is a rugged piece of wearable art; jewelry that is meant to move with you everywhere you go. Durable enough for the dance floor, while regal enough for an imperial coronation, the Theodora escorts your every step, making you an everyday empress.
- As such, there will be minor variations in every piece and no two will be exactly the same.
